Changes:

The initial shapes

The initial shapes were changes by the locals of the area, who modified them with their culture. Many designs had emerged in the history, but what became popular was the Swiss design-the present form- of the cards. The Swiss replaced the traditional cups, swords, coins and batons and instead introduced the heart, bell, leave and brick. Each symbol representing the polarized European society.

Etienne Vignoles also known

Etienne Vignoles, also known as Lahire, the valet is also said to be responsible for the present appearance of the cards.

French Regional Patterns of the 18th Century: In the early Eighteenth century, luxurious spending and war, had damaged the French economy. In 1701 a tax was obscured on card games. In order to increase the tax revenue, the country was divided into various zones. Each zone was to come up with its unique style and get an approval from the French nobility.

Casino playing cards have a rich history that involves wars, manipulation and regional touch, and all of this can be noted by the game’s popularity across the globe.
